How Rainmaker Foundation Booked Event Photography at a Better Price


The Rainmaker Foundation exists to catalyse the emergence of a supportive, startup-style ecosystem that will accelerate the impact of small charities with great potential. They run a 6-month curriculum and mentor-driven accelerator programme designed to provide a safe space for small charities to engage with disruptive thinking, to innovate their organisation, access best in class technology tools from the commercial sphere and to amplify their impact. They do this by engaging a community of entrepreneurs, social innovators, charity sector experts, authors, relationship builders and investors who have come together to challenge the status quo within the charity sector. These are their Rainmakers.

The organisation host and contribute to a number of events throughout the year. Their regular choice of photographers for these events was an agency who supply student photographers. Professional photography was needed for an event earlier this year and when there was limited availability at the agency, the foundation’s CEO, Cosmina Popa contacted us and booked the same day.

When I caught up with Cosmina, she mentioned that although many charities hire event suppliers through recommendations, it can be very frustrating going through friends other people to make a booking. However, she found Splento “refreshingly easy” to use and thought that the 24-hour delivery option and “awesome” customer service were two great assets of our service. She also let me know that we cost a lot less than their normal photographers.

Since the event, Cosmina has booked us again and has also been recommending us to other charities in their cohort, with one charity being especially excited to hear about how we work. She told me that they were pleased with the photos and plan to use them for the Rainmaker Foundation website, internal newsletter, a summary of events email to funders and partners, social media and other marketing content.
